Uncle Billy's Brewery & Smokehouse

We brew beers that make us happy. As brewers who are passionate about the craft, it’s a high bar to meet. We find the time and effort is more than worth it, because it turns out we’re doing more than making ourselves happy, we’re spreading that happiness to beer fans everywhere.

Here in Austin, we’ve learned that well-crafted, enjoyable beer facilitates great times and memorable conversations.

For us, there’s only one thing better than a great beer: sharing it.

The Uncle Billy’s brand is an iconic representation of one of Austin’s most beloved historical figures, William “Billy” Barton—largely credited with the founding, and ultimately, the preservation of Barton Springs. Very little is known about the real William Barton, except that he was a bit of a recluse, and that he loved beer.

Our Billy images are crafted to convey and connect the brand directly to the free and independent spirit of today’s craft beer lovers.

As such, Billy is always portrayed as reflecting the carefree, casual and modern Austinite; and, the one-of-a-kind Austin lifestyle that makes Austin a craft beer lover’s mecca.

"The new packaging has worked wonders for our brand. Sales at the brewpub on Barton Springs quadrupled. Retail sales at outlets like HEB and Whole Foods tripled six months after its introduction, then quintupled after a year. In fact, the growth was so explosive, Uncle Billy’s has had to find new brewing facilities to meet the demand."

Results

"The top-selling craft at UT's Memorial Stadium during the 2015 football season was the Green Room IPA from Austin's Uncle Billy's."

It's also worth noting that each of those four craft beers outsold the seemingly ubiquitous Shiner Bock."
